Dream vacations: Blue Voyage sailing it is

If I had time and money for really fantastic vacations, I would probably go sailing Turkey. Turkey's western and south climate is typically Mediterranean, that means hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The nights are usually pretty calm, but there is a heavy swell along the coast regions. If you go sailing Turkey, a lot more rainy is the Black Sea part of the coast. It also has a lot more extremes. Turkey gulet renters should be familiar with an old local saysing, that the Black Sea has four good haroburs: Samsun, Trebzon, July and August. July and August are the mosty dry months in Turkey, May is the least dry.

Sailing along Turkey has a special term connected with it. Mavi Yulculuk or the Blue Voyage is a term used to describe sailing Turkey 's southwestern coasts and the Turkish riviera. Blue Cruise or Blue Voyage name is usually also connected with Turkey's tourism industry. On my dream vacations, I would take a tour accross Blue Voyage with a Turkey gulet. Gulet is a traditional vessel which has it's origins in southwestern coast of Turkey. Usually it varies in size from 14-35 meters and today almost every one of them is equiped with diesel power. Turkey gulet traditionaly didn't have that possibility, many of the modern types today don't have the old style sailing equipment.
